Spring alters the photos

Although the correct spanish popular saying is “spring alters the blood”, in photo trapping it could well be said that it is the photos that are altered. We mean that a camera that has been successfully set up in a certain place all winter, taking photos regularly, may stop working properly when spring arrives.

The rains can cause grass and vegetation to grow so much that the camera’s field of action can be obstructed and the effectiveness of the motion sensor can be reduced.

In this series of photos we can see a location of a Spartan S128 camera, with internet-sending function, which has been sending us photos since February (the photos we have put here have less resolution, as they are the version sent by the camera).

For the last twenty days or so, the vegetation has grown so much that it has become increasingly difficult to see the animals.

We may have to get there and mow the grass!
